Terrazzo Effect Tiles

First created in Italy, terrazzo has been around for centuries, but saw a notable boost in popularity after the 1920s, thanks to production developments. Terrazzo floors conjure up the glamour of this period and offer a nostalgic nod to the decades and design movements that followed, where this stunning marble-chipped material continued to enliven all manner of interiors. Fast-forward to the present day, and terrazzo is making a comeback that shows no signs of slowing down. However, due to the time and skill involved in its artisan-led production, real terrazzo tiles aren’t always an accessible option.

It’s for this reason we decided to develop a large and varied collection of terrazzo effect tiles, which mimic the beauty of the real thing. Our porcelain tile alternatives encompass both subtle and traditional options, as well as large-format motifs and brightly coloured designs. If you’re planning to stay within a neutral palette, the Jagger range is a great place to start. Offering warm and cool-toned options, this traditional terrazzo tile is elegant yet understated and works as well in modern and classic homes. It’s available in an impressively proportioned version that measures over a metre square, and can be used both indoors and out. Ideal as a terrazzo effect floor tile, it also looks great on walls, so works well as a wraparound scheme.

For something brighter, bolder or more playful, we recommend experimenting with colourful designs, hexagonal shapes or oversized patterns. The Spektrum tile boasts a gleaming white colourway that’s set with flecks of blue and yellow, while our Terrazzo Nouveau collection has a variety of different colour combinations that are designed to work with all manner of palettes. For soft, dusky hues, try Zappa, which comes in a hexagonal format, has a high grip finish and is a perfect choice for terrazzo effect bathroom tiles.

To make a real statement, choose a design with super-sized chips. If natural tones are more your style, Cosmic should be your go-to. For colour, try Shard, which blends an angular accent pattern with bases in muted shades. We love the green and pink colourway for a real retro feel, particularly when layered with lighter, minty hues. For a complementary terrazzo tile in similar colours, but with a small-scale motif, try our Pebble design, which comes in a matching green. If you’re searching for terrazzo effect kitchen tiles, this works really well on walls as a splashback.
