White Tiles

Clean, serene and brightening, white tiles will give any space an instant refresh. Whether large or small in format, glossy or matt in finish, this light-enhancing hue is an ideal choice to lift any space, in either cool or warm-toned shades. If pure white feels too harsh, consider a speckled, marbled or textured white tile, which is the perfect complement to natural stone or stone-effect porcelain in richer neutrals such as beige or grey.

If you’re on the hunt for white tiles to reinvigorate your kitchen or bathroom, you may be surprised to discover just how much variety there is when it comes to this wonderfully nuanced colour. Far from cold or clinical, white bathroom tiles come in a huge array of styles, materials and designs – from luxurious polished marble and gleaming high-gloss ceramic to porcelain tiles that mimic the palest Italian limestone.

If you’d like to add warmth, look for white tiles with a hint of beige. If light is a concern, then a gloss finish is your go-to. For depth and texture, choose tiles with tonal variation, such as our Zellige style, the shades and profiles of which differ subtly from tile to tile. Our Camden range, which features an industrial-inspired oxidised finish, is another great option in white. For a seriously tactile white wall tile, try our White Quartzite splitface, which features a rugged three-dimensional surface and a glistening crystal quality.

When installing white kitchen tiles, consider using a coloured grout to create a linear, graphic motif. Another way to pair white with a hit of colour is with a terrazzo-effect tile, such as our Spektrum porcelain, which features splashes of vibrant terrazzo pieces on a sleek white backdrop. This playful design is a great choice for both walls and floors,  and works particularly well in pared-back contemporary spaces.

If you’re thinking about choosing white floor tiles, then practicality should be factored in. Unless it’s for a low-traffic area – either that, or you don’t mind doing quite a bit of cleaning – it might be wise to opt for a white-toned stone or stone-effect tile, or a patterned design, as both will be a little more forgiving when it comes to dirt and marks. A large-format tile can also make floor cleaning a little easier. When it comes to white wall tiles, smaller tile designs can be a very effective way to enliven a white scheme, particularly in interesting shapes such a scalloped, hexagonal or diamond mosaics.
