Slate is a very dense material and so, generally, only a surface sealant such as Fila Satin is required. If using slate externally then a surface wax should not be used; it is usual for tiles to be allowed to weather naturally. Flags of 30mm thickness are generally used externally whereas thinner tiles are for internal use.
When fixing a material externally, the choice of whether to seal or not becomes one of personal preference combined with considerations of the installation environment. Many people choose to leave the stone unsealed and let it weather naturally with time. As it weathers the stone will gain character and develop a look all its own.

Delivery availability & charges
Orders are typically delivered within 3-5 working days, with delivery date and costs confirmed at checkout.
Most deliveries take place between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.
Delivery charges depend on the size and weight of your order and are shown separately from product prices to keep our tiles competitively priced.
Delivery to UK mainland starts at £45 per crate, which covers up to approximately 1000 kg.
Parcel delivery charges (UK mainland only):
Up to 5kg – £4.12 | Up to 10kg – £6.62 | Up to 20kg – £8.29
A.M. deliveries (8:00 am–1:00 pm) are available for an additional £18 + VAT, subject to area.
Further information
Someone must be available to accept, sign for, and safely store the goods, which the driver will place at the nearest accessible point, such as the driveway or kerbside.
Special orders, slabs, large-format tiles, some bathware, and sizeable orders are usually delivered using specialist off-load vehicles, which may increase delivery times.
UK Mainland deliveries exclude the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, and the Scottish Highlands, please contact our Sales Team for these areas.

We hope you love your Mandarin Stone products, but if not, we offer a 30-day returns policy.
Goods must be returned within 7 days of receiving authorisation.
Return address: Mandarin Stone, Unit 1 Wonastow Road Industrial Estate, Monmouth, NP25 5JB.
All returns must be scheduled in advance and made between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
Please clearly mark the returns number on all packages, boxes, crates, and pallets.
Tiles are fragile, so please ensure packaging is secure; refunds will not be issued if items or packaging are returned in unsaleable condition.
Refunds for resalable goods will be processed within 10 days, minus a 20% restocking fee.
