A Hidden Gem

The kind of project where every detail has a reason.

A new house concealed behind a reconstructed garden wall in Kennington. Designed by Inglis Badrashi Loddo and built around a central courtyard, Cleaver Square sits quietly within its Georgian conservation setting without announcing itself. The project was published in Dezeen, the Architects Journal, New Atlas and Yanko Design, and featured in Dezeen’s top five houses of June 2026.

A floor that runs inside and out

One of the most deliberate decisions in the project was the use of a single floor finish running from inside the house across the threshold and into the courtyard garden.

Kast Light Grey Porcelain was chosen for this. A concrete-effect tile with a warm grey tone and subtle aggregate speckle, it sits naturally alongside the lime-washed brickwork of the courtyard without feeling cold or industrial. Available in both indoor and outdoor thicknesses, Kast makes the inside-outside transition seamless. The floor reads as one continuous surface throughout.

A bathroom in sage

In the bathroom, Opera Sage Green Satin Porcelain introduces a quieter note of colour. Its soft, stippled finish catches the light without being overtly glossy, and the muted sage tone connects back to the courtyard and the planting beyond the wall.

A house that gives nothing away from the street, and everything once you’re inside. The same principle runs through every material choice: nothing extra, nothing unconsidered. For projects where the architecture sets a high bar, the finishing details need to meet it.
