The Ceppo Edit

Why Characterful Stone Patterns Are Having a Moment.

Characterful stone patterns are having a moment.

Ceppo is an Italian stone with a long history and an increasingly strong presence in contemporary interiors. Its surface is defined by fragmented aggregate, fossil, shell and mineral compressed into a dense material where no two tiles read the same. It is the kind of stone that invites a closer look.

The collection spans real honed Ceppo marble and porcelain Ceppo effect tiles, each capturing that distinctive patterning in its own way.

What are Ceppo tiles?

Ceppo tiles are recognised for their distinctive fragmented appearance, with pebble-like markings that bring pattern, depth and character to a surface. The name is used for natural stones and porcelain designs that recreate this look, so it’s worth checking the material when choosing your tiles.

Ceppo di Grè is a natural stone quarried near Lake Iseo in northern Italy. Its characteristic appearance comes from rock fragments naturally bound together over time. Today, Ceppo-inspired tiles reinterpret this distinctive look in different colours, materials and finishes.

Ceppo Sicilia

Ceppo Sicilia Honed Marble has a warm, sandy base scattered with large fossil inclusions and natural variation that gives the surface real depth. Here, it anchors a bathroom alongside Kin Ivory and Kin Moss Gloss Porcelain on the walls and Fitz Verde Honed Marble on the floor and bath surround. Three materials sharing the same warmth, each doing a different job.

Ceppo Romano

Ceppo Romano Honed Marble takes a quieter approach. Its fragmented pattern blends warm beige, soft taupe and subtle grey in a surface that is calm and considered. Paired here with Fitz Claret Honed Marble Slab and Rojo Alicante Honed Marble Slab as fabricated shelves and countertop, it shows how well Ceppo works as a backdrop to bolder stone details.

Ceppo Nouveau

For those who want the character of Ceppo without the maintenance of natural stone, Ceppo Nouveau Matt Marble Effect Porcelain captures the varied surface in a rectified, sealant-free porcelain. White and Green laid in a chequerboard floor brings out the patterning of each tile while adding a geometric layer to the scheme.

Ceppo Garda

Ceppo Garda Honed Marble is rich and highly distinctive. Its surface is dense with variation, the colouring shifting across each tile in a way that makes it one of the more characterful natural stones. It is the kind of surface that gives a room its entire character.

Ceppo Alta

Ceppo Alta takes the Ceppo aesthetic in a different direction. Ceppo Alta Bianco Matt Terrazzo Effect Porcelain captures a finer, more refined texture in a large format porcelain. Paired here with Ceppo Alta Bianco Matt Decor Porcelain, the fluted relief of the decor tile adds a layer of texture that sits naturally alongside the aggregate surface. A bathroom that earns its calm.

Ceppo stone tiles have a depth that comes from what it is rather than how it looks. Whether you choose the real marble or a porcelain alternative, the character of the surface does the work.
