Chequer play

For an innovative take on chequerboard, experiment with tones or small-scale geometrics. Alternatively, go classic with a monochrome design.

As the demand for checkerboard floors shows no sign of abating, we’re continually looking for new and innovative ways to riff on this classic design. Of course, you can opt for a traditional black-and-white checked floor if that appeals, but if you’re after something a little softer or more unusual, we have a plethora of designs to choose from.

Why not consider softening the contrast of a black-and-white motif by choosing tiles in warm beige and charcoal, such as those available in our Lyon Di Scacchi Tumbled Limestone range? Alternatively, try combining our Fragmenta Ivory & Green Terrazzo Effect Porcelain for a tonal flooring option with pleasingly mottled surface details.

If you love the idea of a checkerboard floor but would prefer a small-scale pattern for your space, look no further than the Valencia Terracotta Effect Porcelain collection, which can be combined in a two or three-tone design, or our Fitz Black & White Honed Marble Triangle tiles, which offer a graphic, geometric update on a checked motif.
