There’s something about a chequerboard floor that feels both considered and completely at ease. It’s a pattern with a long history, but Di Scacchi brings something different to it. The natural variation of tumbled stone means every floor is unique, every kitchen a little more its own.

Lyon Di Scacchi Tumbled Limestone

Justin Coakley of Design at Nineteen chose Lyon Di Scacchi Tumbled Limestone from our Classic Collection for this warm, beautifully put-together kitchen. The soft cream and grey tones of the limestone work with the natural materials around them rather than competing, letting the chequerboard pattern add structure without taking over.

The tumbled finish is key here. It gives the geometry of the floor a softness that feels genuinely at home in a lived-in kitchen space.

Rosso Di Scacchi Tumbled Marble

This project by Banjo Beale and Ro, photographed by Shelley Richmond, shows Rosso Di Scacchi Tumbled Marble at its most characterful. The rich terracotta and cream tones bring warmth to a kitchen full of personality, sitting comfortably alongside aged cabinetry, warm woods and an eclectic mix of objects collected over time.

It’s the kind of floor that makes a room feel like it has a story.

Delve Architects took a bolder direction with Di Scacchi Tumbled Marble, and the result is a kitchen that feels both timeless and thoroughly contemporary. The contrast is confident, but the tumbled finish stops it from ever feeling cold or clinical. Photographed by Chris Snook, this kitchen shows how striking the classic chequerboard can be when the rest of the room is calm enough to let the floor speak.

Timeless is an overused word, but here it genuinely applies.
