Well I think 2016 has been a year to remember. From the vote for Brexit, to the deaths of David Bowie & Prince and the rise of Donald Trump, 2016 has seen some big headlines. So I'm guessing it will be an interesting 2017, whichever way you look at it!
I'm sure you've gathered by now that our choice of natural stone and porcelain tiles is pretty much endless so its really interesting to see out of the hundreds, which have been your favourites in 2016, here's the top 10:
1. Dijon Tumbled Limestone
2. Milan Tumbled Limestone
3. Mandalay Buff Riven Limestone
4. New York Brooklyn Porcelain
5. Pierre Gris Porcelain
6. Nero Riven Slate
7. Calacatta Honed Marble
8. Argento Larch Porcelain
9. Paris Blue Tumbled Limestone
10. St Arbois Tumbled Limestone
It's great to see some classic natural stones up there, not surprisingly hitting the top spot are our famous Dijon & Milan Limestones. These traditional antique stones are predominantly used for flooring and over the years have gained a serious following and it's easy to see why. They offer the perfect backdrop to virtually any interior and their large format in random lengths is a big bonus, plus with a 30mm exterior option available they can be continued into outside areas. Also up there are the extremely cost-effective and timeless Nero Slate & Calacatta Marble, what's not to love about these versatile products?!
Now in our fifth year of stepping outside our natural stone comfort zone and offering man-made tiles its good to see some of these porcelains have crept into the top ten. There's a concrete-effect (New York), a stone-effect (Pierre) & a wood-effect (Argento). A few years ago I thought the whole wood-effect thing would be here one day and gone the next, how wrong was I?! With constant progression in design, graphics and formats of porcelain planks, these products are unbelievably realistic and it's a flooring trend that will be here to stay for a while yet. And if you love the super-stylish 'rough-luxe' look, our New York concrete-effect porcelain, available in large formats is pretty special…
We have some exciting new additions on the cards for 2017 and whilst we take note of trends, this top ten shows there's a lot to be said for those classics that will always stand the test of time.
Finally here's a little round-up of our #bestnine Instagram posts. I have to confess that 2016 has seen me become a little bit of an Instagram addict, but hey there's worse things to be. We've seen some serious love for our spectacular, veined Calacatta Viola marble and our decorative, patterned tiles always give great eye-candy.
A big thank you to all our customers during 2016 and wishing you all a very happy festive break, see you in 2017!
